Vintage Sango Morena Fruit Bowls, Set of 4, Japan Porcelain, Platinum Trim, 5.5 Inch

A beautiful set of four vintage fruit or dessert bowls by Sango China of Japan in the Morena 6280 pattern, dating to approximately the 1980s. Morena features a glossy white porcelain ground decorated with delicate gray floral sprays and finished with a narrow platinum trim. The understated design gives these bowls an elegant look that works equally well with the complete Morena service or mixed with other white and platinum dinnerware.

Condition:
These bowls came from a family-owned dinnerware service that was purchased new and carefully kept over the years. They appear to have seen little to no use. Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks or crazing. There are no utensil marks or staining that we can see, and the platinum trim remains bright with no noticeable rubbing or loss.

History
Sango was a Japanese dinnerware company whose patterns became familiar in American homes during the later 20th century. Morena, pattern number 6280, is a discontinued Japanese-made pattern dating to approximately the 1980s.
The pattern reflects the restrained dinnerware styling popular during the period: white porcelain, a soft gray floral design and narrow platinum trim rather than heavily colored decoration. Sets such as Morena were produced as coordinated dinner services with individual place-setting pieces and serving pieces.
