Antique Silver Plated Bowls, Bon Bon Bowls, Hawksworth Eyre & Co., Capital, EPNS, England, Hollowware, Gadroon, Scrolls, Ornate Plated Silver, Set of 2
A pair of antique silver plated bon-bon bowls by Hawksworth Eyre & Co. under the Capital trademark. They have gadroon edging (a decorative edging on metal typically formed by inverted flutings). These hollowware bowls are very ornate with the inside covered with scrolls. This is gorgeous EPNS (Electro Plated Nickel Silver) silver and perfect for candy, nuts, display or for the collector. They were made in England.
Hawksworth Eyre & Co was started in 1821 by Charles Hawksworth & John Eyre as Blagden, Hodgson & Co, producing Old Sheffiel Plate. The firm was converted into Ltd in 1872. The firm used also the trademark Siberian Silver and Capital.
5 3/4 inches in diameter
These antique bowls are in excellent condition. There are no pits. There are very few marks on this set, it looks like they were only used as display pieces. A beautiful pair.
I polish all the silver in my shop to be able to determine the condition and show it off at it's best.
This would make a great housewarming, hostess, wedding, shower, or holiday gift.
