DeLong's Dairy Milk Bottle, Pyro Glazed, Glens Falls NY, Collectible, Painted Lettering, Square, Clear Glass, Quart

This square clear glass milk bottle is from DeLong's Dairy Glens Falls, N.Y. It is Pyro Glazed (Painted Lettering). The design is only on the front of the bottle.

In 1890, the late Edwin DeLong rented a farm on Haviland Road and started selling raw milk in Glens Falls. At that time, milk was dispensed from a can with a dipper. Mr. DeLong purchased a farm at Vaughn’s Corners, and he used a team of horses to make his deliveries and later he used a Model T. In 1925, A. Herbert DeLong, purchased the business from his father. Herbert incorporated the business in 1931. He built a modern brick and stone building at 235 Bay Street, which had all the latest equipment for bottling, capping, pasteurizing and preparing milk for delivery.

The days of home milk delivery in glass bottles are a thing of the past. But just like the past loves to be remembered so does the milk bottle. They are a great collector's item as well as a conversation piece. A collection of these on a kitchen or pantry shelf lends a touch of a bygone era. Perfect for your country or rustic style home. They make a fantastic vase and if filled with white sand or salt a great doorstop. A great gift for the collector.

Holds 1 quart.
Stands 9 1/2 inches tall.

The bottle is in good condition. There are no chips or cracks. There is mild scratching from being used and carried in milk crates. The Pyro Glazing on the bottle does have minor scratches and is faded a bit. Also the glass has some fogging.

******Bottle is filled with salt for photographic purposes only******
