Sugar and Creamer, Federal Glass, Madrid Pattern, Depression Glass, Pressed Glass, Scroll Design, Clear Glass
A beautiful depression glass open sugar bowl and creamer from Federal Glass in the Madrid Pattern. The pattern design is of scrolls and dates between 1932 - 1939. This pattern was reproduced by Indiana Glass Co in the 1980s and are easily confused. These would look wonderful on a dinner table, sideboard, or buffet. A great find for the collector of depression glass. They would also make a great gift idea.
This set is original from the 1930s. This can be determined by how handles join the bowls as seen from inside. Old handles form a pointed teardrop and new are rounded. Spouts on the old creamers dip below the top rim as if the glass was just pulled down the newer ones are above the rim and added on. This set meets these characteristics.
Federal Glass made many glass patterns from 1900 and up to company's end in 1979 in Columbus, Ohio. Their specialty was handmade press glass.
