Children's Hardcover Book, Winning the Girl of the Sea, Brenda Silsbe, Fiction, Illustrated, Kid's Story, Storybook

A wonderful children's hardcover book called Winning the Girl of the Sea by Brenda Silsbe. This fictional book is beautifully illustrated by Alice Priestly. Age Range 5 - 7 Years

"One day a girl washed up on the beach. After she wiped the seaweed out of her eyes, she looked around. Everything seemed strange. She couldn't remember who she was or where she came from. Along came two walkers. "So begins this fantastic story of a lost girl and an unusual family. Peg and Mumblety invite her to come home with them, right on top of a volcano. They found their oldest boy while digging in the ash garden, the second came shooting out of the volcano, and the third blew in on a northeast gale. The girl likes what she sees and hears, but asks her new friends to return the next day for her answer. They leave her alone. "We don't keep children," they say reassuringly. That night she dreams of magical adventures, swimming in the sea, floating in a hot air balloon and flying above the desert. She wakes with an answer.

Brenda Silsbe was born October 10, 1953 in Terrace, British Columbia, Canada. In 1977 she received a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of British Columbia and returned to Terrace to teach primary school. Silsbe had her first work of children's fiction published in 1989 by Annick Press.

Fine: A Fine book approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. The book may have been opened and read, but there are no defects to the book, jacket or pages.

Very Good: Describes a book that shows some small signs of wear - but no tears - on either binding or paper. Any defects should be noted by the seller.

Good: Describes the average used book that has all pages or leaves present. Any defects should be noted by the seller.

Fair: Worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, etc. Binding, jacket (if any), etc., may also be worn. All defects should be noted.

Poor: Describes a book that is sufficiently worn. Any missing maps or plates should still be noted. This copy may be soiled, scuffed, stained or spotted and may have loose joints, hinges, pages, etc.

Binding Copy: describes a book in which the pages or leaves are perfect but the binding is very bad, loose, off, or nonexistent.

Reading Copy: A copy usually in poor to fair condition that includes all text presented in a legible fashion. The copy is fine to read but nothing more.
