Insulator, Whitall Tatum No 1, Clear Glass, Collectible

Insulators were a basic part of the communications and power industry in the early 20th century. This early style insulator is embossed with Whitall Tatum Co No 1, made in the USA, and the trademark WT in an upside down triangle. This insulator would be a great addition to any insulator collection. It would add rustic style to a home or camp. It would also make a great paperweight. It is a beautiful piece of glass and would look fantastic in a window catching the light adding character and charm to your home.

The Whitall Tatum Company, or Whitall Tatum, was one of the first glass factories in America. Located in Millville, New Jersey, it was in operation from 1806 through 1938. Whitall Tatum produced bottles, jars, and vials throughout much of the 19th century. Whitall Tatum entered the insulator manufacturing market in 1922, mass-producing them for use on power and communications lines across the country. Armstrong Cork Corporation purchased Whitall-Tatum in 1938, continuing insulator production under the Armstrong trademark.

Size: 4 inches in height.

This insulator is in Great condition. There are no chips or cracks on the outside skirt. It's glass is slightly yellowed from use. The glass is imperfect with bubble and lines due to the manufacturing process. (Most insulators made from leftover glass)
