Miss Phoebe Ann was Belleport's Miss Fixit, and, as the local dressmaker, there was no problem too little or too big that she couldn't cope with. She manages to iron out the difficulties of Joan Jepson's love for Clive Weldon, a wealthy summer transient, capably assisted by Selma, Phoebe Ann's good companion, and proves Joan's heart belongs somewhere else. Miss Bassett's perennial themes of happiness and unselfishness, her happy-ending romances have an established audience.
