A wonderful children's first edition hardcover book called Pretty Bird by Sarah Derman. This fictional book is great fun and a perfect 'learning to read book' for young children. The illustrations are wonderful and reminiscent of the time period.
Father brings home a surprise and then the fun begins. The surprise is a parakeet named Pretty Bird. The dog, the children, and the cat all pay too much attention to the newcomer but Pretty Bird enjoys their presence. He wants to be with the family all the time even when they play outside. The entire family enjoys Pretty Bird, and have fun building him things to play with.

This book is in Good condition. Binding is tight. The pages are yellowed with age. There is a stamp from a school on the front flyleaf. The back flyleaf is marked by where the card for it was glued in. The cover has some marks on it.
