Verses, poetry, short stories, and essays written by high school students from across the United States in competition for the Scholastic Awards, including the Witter Bynner Scholastic Poetry Prize, conducted by The Scholastic, a national high school magazine. In a quoted letter by Witter Bynner, the poetry of Dorothy Emerson is particularly praised; she was the winner of the Poetry Prize bearing Bynner's name. Includes works by Dorothy Emerson, Winfield T. Scott, Gladys Lenore Schmitt, Paul Wren, William Flaccus, Juanita Turner, Frances Meusel, G. Whitfield, Irwin Shapiro, Loraine Heljeson, Murray Foy, Dorothy Agard, Mary Johnson, plus many others.

This book is in very good condition. There is wear on the edges and covers. The binding is tight but there is some pulling on the copyright page. There is no writing in the book. The pages are yellowed with age. The bottom right corner cover has a bend in it.

Poor: Describes a book that is sufficiently worn. Any missing maps or plates should still be noted. This copy may be soiled, scuffed, stained or spotted and may have loose joints, hinges, pages, etc.
Binding Copy: describes a book in which the pages or leaves are perfect but the binding is very bad, loose, off, or nonexistent.
Reading Copy: A copy usually in poor to fair condition that includes all text presented in a legible fashion. The copy is fine to read but nothing more.

GOOD: Item shows its years of use and love. There will be flaws such as chips, small cracks, more pronounced crazing etc. Price will reflect these defects. The item will show a larger amount of wear.
FAIR: Numerous noted flaws, some very significant. Larger cracks, chips, mars, etc. The item will have very significant wear for its years of use.
