A gorgeous antique Hawkes crystal Banana bowl. The pattern is Newport and consists of hobstars, cane, and oval petals. This is a statement piece. It would be an elegant centerpiece on a dining room table, buffet, or coffee table. This would make a wonderful gift and perfect for a collector.
Hawkes Co. Corning, NY was one of America's finest producers of fine crystal. The company was founded in 1880 by Thomas Gibbons Hawkes, who emigrated from Ireland at age 17. Hawkes glassware was used in the White House from 1885 until 1938. The firm's logo was a trefoil form enclosing a hawk in each of the two bottom lobes with a fleur-de-lis in the center.

The bowl is very heavy.
American Brilliant Period 1880 - 1917
This bowl is in excellent condition. It has a few flea bite chips that are hard to notice on the sawtooth edge. It also has a chip on one of the cuts on the bottom but as with the other chips, it is very hard to see. The bottom also shows signs of shelf wear which is normal for a bowl of this age.
This would make a great housewarming, hostess, wedding, shower, or holiday gift. A great piece to add to your collection.
