Gold Royal Winton Teacup, Golden Age, Footed Cup and Saucer, Fine Bone China, Encased Gold

This is a gorgeous fine bone china footed teacup by Royal Winton and made in Grimwades England. The pattern is called Golden Age and consists of the cup and saucer being encased in gold. This would make a great display piece in a china cabinet, shelf, or hutch. A great cup to enjoy your favorite tea, coffee, or espresso on the porch, patio, or veranda. A perfect gift for a teacup collector.

Royal Winton is an English brand of earthenware and fine bone china tableware, made by Grimwades Limited, a Stoke-on-Trent based company founded by Leonard Lumsden Grimwade and his elder brother, Sidney Richard Grimwade, in 1885. Among many other themes, the company made pieces with New Zealand interest, partly directed at the market there. In 1928, they produced the first of their Chintz pattern designs, for which the company has become famous. In the 1980s the company was acquired by Coloroll, a home furnishings conglomerate. Following the financial failure of Coloroll, Royal Winton was bought out by the management. It has been merged with Duchess China Ltd of Longton (formerly part of the Tams group).

Size:
Teacup:
3 inches in height
3 1/2 inches in diameter.
Saucer:
5 1/2 inches in diameter.

The teacup is in very good condition. No chips or cracks. The bottom of the saucer has crazing but the cup has none. There is minor rubbing to the gold on the cup and the saucer has more apparent rubbing from the cup moving across it. This is from years of use but it is still very bright and shiny.

This is a great teacup for the collector. It would make a marvelous gift for a wedding, housewarming, holiday, or special occasion.
