A wonderful hardcover book called Campfires and Battlefields: A Pictorial Narrative of the Civil War by Rossiter Johnson. This is a large coffee table book with gray color cloth covers and title in black on the spine.

Campfire & Battlefield, written by Rossiter Johnson, is a richly illustrated narrative history of the war. Originally published in 1894, this handsome reprint includes contributions from the likes of Generals Oliver O. Howard, John B. Gordon, and LaSalle Corbell Pickett, Wife of General George Pickett. Encompassing each campaign from the outset of the bloody conflict to the last days of the confederacy, Campfire and Battlefield has over 1000 original wartime photographs of both heroes and battlegrounds

This book is in very good condition. The binding is sturdy. There are no markings or stains in the book and only minor shelf wear. The Dust Cover is in acceptable condition with rips, rubbing, and tears around the edges.

As New: The book is in the same immaculate condition as when it was published. This could be the description for a book that has been lost in a warehouse for years, never shelved, thumbed or even opened yet may still be some years old.

Fine: A Fine book approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. The book may have been opened and read, but there are no defects to the book, jacket or pages.

Very Good: Describes a book that shows some small signs of wear - but no tears - on either binding or paper. Any defects should be noted by the seller.

Good: Describes the average used book that has all pages or leaves present. Any defects should be noted by the seller.

Fair: Worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, etc. Binding, jacket (if any), etc., may also be worn. All defects should be noted.
