Antique EAPG Biscuit Bowl, US Glass, Manhattan, Clear Glass, Collectible
A lovely antique EAPG (Early American Pressed Glass) biscuit bowl by US Glass. The pattern is called Manhattan. The distinguishing characteristics of the Manhattan pattern are a horizontal row of bulls-eyes surrounded by beads, a series of vertical ribs resembling icicles, and bands of hexagonal blocks. The order in which these three fundamental elements are located depends on the piece. Manhattan pattern was in production from 1902 through 1919. This would be gorgeous on a buffet, table, or sideboard. It would even made an unique vase. Perfect for the collector of antique glass.
The United States Glass Company was formed when 18 or more glass companies combined in 1891 to try to survive trying times as a combined unit. While other factories within the United States Glass Company were forced to close during the Great Depression of the 1930s one large factory survived. The official name of the company remained the United States Glass Company through 1962.
